This is the kind of YA I want to write. And read.
If I could ever pull off writing a girl, I'd want her to be as excellent as Angel Cassonetti.
Beautiful and beguiling book about summer and coming-of-age, with no apologies for Angel's sexual behavior, nor any Hammer of Consequences/Lessons bullshit that so many books exploring adolescent sexuality seem to devolve into as a kind of punishment for readers who might get some big idea that they are entitled to their own physicality.
Kudos, also, for writing a character who isn't a college-bound above-average over-achiever.
